The rumors are true! In March of 2021, we permanently closed the doors to our 2,300 square foot training facility in Indianapolis, Indiana and opened a small, private studio in Clearwater, Florida.
Now I’m sure many of you are wondering why we would risk losing everything we spent 6 years trying to create, sell all our personal belongings, uproot our children from everything and everyone they have ever known, and move 1,000 miles away from our comfort zone. Let me be the first to say, this decision wasn’t taken lightly. It was made after many sleepless nights, mental breakdowns, tears, doubting ourselves and our potential, and doubting God and His plans for our lives. This is what ultimately led us to where we are today.
January 2020 was financially the best month we had ever had in business. We had big plans for an incredibly prosperous year, then COVID hit and all that changed. Never Settle Fitness was one of the first businesses forced into a mandatory shutdown and the last to open again. We felt blindsided, to say the least. One day we were projecting profits for the year and the next we were struggling to stay open. We had never strongly considered virtual training before, but knew it was a necessity if we wanted to continue living out our dream, so we changed our entire business structure and launched online services within two days. Our main objective at that point was to retain as many clients as possible because we knew the chances of welcoming new ones during this time were slim to none. Like many small businesses, we made many sacrifices and struggled through the pandemic, but God always provided us with exactly what we needed.
After nearly 3 months of being on a mandatory shutdown, our business was finally given the green light to open our doors for in person training again. We had high hopes that the worst was finally over and things would return to normal again, but we were wrong. No one’s lives looked the same anymore! I’m sure you can relate! The majority of our clients were now working from home, homeschooling their kids, or both! Traveling to exercise in person was no longer convenient for them, so many chose to continue to train virtually instead. Nate and I quickly found ourselves asking each other how long it would make sense to sit and pay for a 2,300 square feet facility just to help people from our phones. The reality is, it didn’t make sense and it wasn’t maintainable long term. Our desire had always been to live in Florida and make it our permanent home, but we oftentimes felt like that dream was out of reach as our business and influence continued to grow in Indiana. COVID changed that for us and provided us with the opportunity we didn’t expect, but always wanted. So after many prayers and confirmations from God, we knew what we had to do. Sure, the idea of living close to the beach and pursuing our purpose where we ultimately always wanted to be was fun and exciting, but the thought of making the wrong decision, failing, and losing everything we had worked so hard for was equally as terrifying. But if you aren’t courageous enough to take risks, you’ll never accomplish anything great in life. In that moment, pursuing a life of greatness meant trusting God and sacrificing what we had then to have what we do now, so we closed the doors to our 2,300 square foot personal training facility, sold all our personal belongings, and moved 1,000 miles away from home to pursue the purpose God has for us.
After 7 months since the big move, I can say with confidence this was the best choice for our business and family. It’s almost overwhelming to see how God continues to reveal to us WHY things had to happen the way they did. He continues to remind us of the gifts He has given us and restore the vision we had given up on. We still haven’t fully recovered from the damaging effects of COVID, but our passion has been reignited and our purpose never so clear!
To everyone who has and continues to support our dream, thank you! We offer virtual training services for all our friends in Indy or those located in different states who wish to work with us from a distance. Thank you for the opportunity to continue to serve you!
